Q1: Did you repent of the things you had done as soon as you came home or did it take time? (click for answer)
In my heart I had repented, but it takes time for a prodigal to verbalize their sorrow. Even years later, God will bring things to mind that need to be made right with the spouse we wronged, and with God.

These answers have developed in response to questions we have received over many years. May you consult the answers with an open Bible and an open heart, thus allowing God's Holy Spirit to help you find the truth.

Q2: I have been praying and standing for my marriage. I just found out that my spouse has moved the other person into our family home.(click for answer)
Kim responds:
I know how difficult this situation is but I will tell you what Bob and Charlyne always tell us - take it to God in prayer. Let Him give you the wisdom and guidance you need at this most difficult time.

God has spoken to your heart. He has given you promises. These are the things you need to hold on to. It doesn't matter what others say. It only matters what God says. And He who promised is faithful.

"God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?" Numbers 23:19

As difficult as it seems right now, you have to hold on to your faith. Let God be your Great Comforter and Provider. He will show you the way you should go. May God open your heart to His guidance and direction.

Q3: My prodigal admits to thinking about coming home. Why don't they?(click for answer)
Bob responds:
Because they have been taken captive and their thoughts are not their own. Just because you are not hearing it does not mean your spouse is not thinking about coming home.

Q4: Is it alright to go out alone with opposite sex friends while standing and asking God to restore a marriage?(click for answer)
Charlyne responds:
I would not recommend it. What if your spouse saw you? I acted and behaved as if Bob was with me or at home. That saved me from a lot of trouble.

Confidentiality issues do not allow us to share contact information. Many people we know only through email. We cannot certify they are who they tell us they are. We might unknowingly be sending you information on a person of the opposite sex.

Q6: Did you tell everyone you were divorced?(click for answer)
Charlyne responds:
No, not unless I had to. I hated saying I was divorced and would always say that I was praying for a miracle of restoration.

Q7: Can the Holy Spirit speak to my spouse when they have such a hard heart?(click for answer)
Charlyne responds:
Yes. Think of how many people who now know our Lord Jesus Christ because they became convicted of their sins and saved by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for all sinners. There is no sinner that is too sinful for the Holy Spirit to touch. May I suggest you read the story of Saul in Acts Chapter 9 who tortured and killed Christians. Then our Lord Jesus confronted Saul on the Damascus Road as he was headed to torment more Christians. He was completely transformed into a new creature in Christ and started preaching the Gospel. Christians were fasting and praying for God's protection and the Lord touched and changed Saul into a Paul.

Q8: Did Charlyne tell you that she was standing for your marriage?(click for answer)
Bob responds:
Yes, she did. She also demonstrated that she was standing. She did not beat me over the head with her stand. She did not pursue me. She made me curious about changes I witnessed in her life.

Q9: "I AM THE ONE THAT CAUSED THE MARRIAGE PROBLEMS. I HAD A VERY BAD ATTITUDE, I TREATED MY SPOUSE HORRIBLY AND MY SPOUSE FOUND SOMEONE ELSE THAT WOULD TREAT THEM BETTER. CAN MY MARRIAGE STILL BE RESTORED?"(click for answer)
Nothing is too hard for your Lord to fix in your marriage. It does not matter if you caused the problems in your marriage by you not treating your spouse and possibly your children properly for possibly many years. All of a sudden your spouse has filed for divorce or has moved out, telling you that your marriage is over. We hear from people daily who have played often a very large part in their marriage falling apart. Many spouses have treated their spouse badly by speaking very demeaning words. Now that the Lord has opened your eyes, ask the Lord to forgive you and change your heart. The Lord can make you into a new creature in Christ, and as you seek His face, He can start working on the other side of the mountain of circumstances in your dead marriage.
Read Ephesians 4:17-32,5:1-5.

Q10: My lawyer informed me that the divorce is final today. I want to continue praying and standing for my marriage. Do I?(click for answer)
Kim responds:
Facing a divorce is a difficult situation for any stander. But this is the time we need to dig even deeper into the Word of God and to pray even more. Rejoice Ministries often tells us that we can't see what is happening on the other side of the mountain. We may not know how much good our prayers have done until we reach the other side.

"And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:15-16

Continue to go to God with your questions and petitions. He is a faithful God and He will answer.
